InstructionsRead these instructions carefully, and look at the equipment to bee familiar with the device before tryingto install, operate,or maintain it.The following special messages may appear throughout this documentationor on the equipment to warn of potential hazards or to call attention to information that clarifies or simplifiesa procedure. The addition of this symbol to a Danger or Warning safety label indicatesthat an electrical hazard exists, which will result in personal injury if theinstructions are not followed. This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personalinjury hazards.Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoidpossible injury or deathA DANGERDANGER indicates an imminently hazardous situation.which.will result in deathor serious injury.A WARNINGWARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which,if not avoided, can resultin death, serious injury,or equipment damage.A CAUTIONCAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which,if not avoided, can resultin injury or equipment damage.DisclaimerElectrical equipment should be installed, operated, serviced, and maintained only by qualified personnel.Noresponsibility is assumed by Schneider Electric for any consequences arising out ofthe use of this material.Thisdocument is not intended as an instruction manual for untrained important supplemental information.NOTEContains additional or useful information.SEE→Indicates pages containing related information.4Handling the LCD PanelThe following characteristics are specific to the LCD unit and are considered normal behavior:LCD screen may show unevenness in the brightness of certain images or may appear different when seenfrom outside the specified viewing angle.Extended shadows,or crosstalk may also appear on the sides ofscreen images.LCD screen pixels may contain black and white colored spots and color display may seem to havechanged. When the same image is displayed on the unit's screen for a long period,an afterimage may appear whenthe image is changed. If this happens, tum OFF the unit, wait 10 sec.and then restart the unit.NOTEChange the screen image periodically and try not to display the same image for a longperiod of time.A WARNINGSERIOUS EYE AND SKIN INJURY FROM DAMAGED OR LEAKING LCD PANELDo not touch nor handle a unit whose LCD panel appears damaged or seems to be leaking.Do not use sharp objects or tools in the vicinity of the LCD touch panel or to operate itsbuttons.Handle the LCD panel carefully to prevent puncture, bursting,or cracking of the panel material. The LCD panel's liquid contains an irritant. If the panel is damaged and any of this liquid is incontact with your skin, immediately rinse the area with running water for at least 15 min.If theliquid gets in your eyes, immediately rinse your eyes with running water for at least 15 min.andconsult a doctor.Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury,or equipment damage.A WARNINGRISK OF BURNS OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGEWait at least 10 sec.before restoring power to the HMI unit after turning it off.Switching the unit offand on too quickly can result in overheating that leads to personnel burn hazards or equipmentdamage.Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury,or equipment damage.5XBT OT Series Models and FeaturesThe functions, provide a means to achieve a safe state during andafter a path failure.Examples of critical control functions are emergency stop and overtravelstop.Separate or redundant control paths must be provided for critical control functions.System control paths may include munication links.Consideration must be given to theimplications of unanticipated transmission delays or failures of the link.1Each implementation of the Magelis XBT OT must be individually and thoroughly tested forproper operation before being placed into service. The machine control system design shouldtake into account the possibility of the backlight failing and the operator being unable to controlthe machine,or making errors in the control of the machineFailure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury,or equipment damage.1For additional information, refer to NEMA ICS 1.1 (latest edition),"Safety Guidelines for the Application,Installation, and Maintenance of Solid State Control".Do not use the unit as the only means ofcontrol for critical system functions such as motor start/stop or powerdisconnect.Do not use the unit as the only notification device for critical alarms, such as device overheating orovercurrent.Do not use the unit with aircraft control devices, aerospace equipment, central trunk data transmission(munication)devices, nuclear power control devices,or medical life support equipment, due to thereliability requirements of these industries. In the event of backlight or other unit failure,it may be difficult or impossible to identify a function.Emergency stop, fuel shutoff,or any function that may present a danger if not immediately executed must beprovided independently of the unit.In addition, the machine control system design should take into accountthe possibility of the backlight failing and the operator being unable to control the machine,or making errorsin the control of the machine.7Package ContentsThe following items
