noticetermex32x_V116_TH_E.DOC/20.10.115/91PEPPERL+FUCHS2 StartupThis description of the startup procedure only contains information that is relevant to the TERMEXterminals.Please refer to the respective manuals for details of how to start up the peripheral devices.the ENT-DC power supply unit and the host puter.Proceed as follows to start up the equipment:Switch off the system or machine.Make sure that that the installation area is non-hazardous for the duration of the startup procedureif any non-intrinsically safe voltages need to be wired and/or non-intrinsically safe devices opened.This device is designed for use in the hazardous area(Zones 1 and 2)..The requirements of the applicable explosion protection codes(EN 50014 and following)and theinstallation requirements specified in EN 50039 must be observed when these devices areinstalled.In addition,the technical and electrical data stated in the certificate of conformity for thisdevice must be plied with.This device is only allowed to be started up by trained personnel.The applicable explosionprotection codes must be observed.Please study the current versions of the "TERMEX 22X/32XTechnical Manual"and the "TERMEX 2xx/3xx Firmware Manual"carefully prior to starting up thedevice (you can download the latest versions from www.pepperl-fuchs.).The maximum cable length between the intrinsically safe terminal and the ENT-DC mains bufferstage is 230 m.If peripherals are connected to the terminal,this length is reduced by the length ofthe cable between the terminal and the peripheral.Other lengths are subject to special approval byPepperl+Fuchs.ImportantThe maximum cable length between the intrinsicallysafe terminal and the ENT-...may not exceed definedlength.(see Technical manual ENT-DC-30.technical dataX3 Exi interfaces)The device must be connected to the equipotential bonding conductor(wire cross-section 24 mm2,PA connection on the TERMEX terminal).WarningThe case must be earthed.The earth wire must have across-section of at least 4 mm2 and be as short aspossible./hazardous AreaThe device is not allowed to be modified or otherwise altered in any way.In particular,solderingoperations or repairs are not permissible.Such work may only be carried out by the manufactureror by other authorized persons.If this waming is ignored,the approval for the hazardous area is nolonger valid.Since these devices are intrinsically safe,the connecting leads may also be connected ordisconnected when the unit is live.This is not remended for the following reasons,however:Order when connecting:Connect the GND cables first,then the munication cables and finally the supplyvoltage.Order when disconnecting:Disconnect the supply voltages and "Terminalassignment"for the wiring diagram.WarningOnly ENT-DC power supply units are allowed to beused.Only the ponents listed in section 4 are allowed tobe used as peripherals,and only in the specifiedhazardous Areaconfigurations.All other ponents require the writtenapproval of Pepperl+Fuchs.All wiring must conform to the latest state of the art aswell as to the wiring diagrams approved byIf the terminal is installed in a front panel,make sure that the mounting depth is sufficient toguarantee the minimum cable radius (please also refer to the dimension drawings and technicaldocumentation provided by the cable manufacturer).Please also make sure that the front panel is not warped,as otherwise proper sealing cannot beguaranteed (IP protection).The 4 or 6 clips for fastening onto the front panel should only betightened gently to achieve an optimum sealing contact.Check that all connectors are correctly assigned prior to starting up the device.An assignment planshowing all the terminal signals together with the wire or connection numbers can be found on therear of the terminal.Only now should you switch on the system or machineThe terminal runs an internal self-test when the auxiliary voltage is activated on the mains bufferstage(e.g.ENT-DC).The display goes dark for approximately 1 second(all pixels are energized)and the intemal hardware is tested.The startup message,the firmware version number and theEXTEC logo are displayed for this time(approximately 4 seconds).The terminal then switches tothe normal operating mode.If the project design data is already loaded,'screen 1'is automaticallydisplayed in ASCll modeIf you are using the device for the first time,you should branch to the intemal setup menu with theshortcut +during the self-test phase in order to check that the values of all themost important parameters are correct("TERMEX 2xx/3xx Firmware Manual").To load the project design data,the terminal must be connected to a PC via the mains buffer stage(e.g.ENT-DC).The mains buffer stage and the PC must be connected to the power supply andswitched on.You must select'Protocols:EXTEC'in the terminal setup menu in order to load theproject design software,because you are now using a standard ASCll protocol.After the data hasbeen loaded successfully,the terminal performs a reset,displays the startup message and runs aself-test.If you want to use a protocol other than the standard ASCll protocol,select the requiredprotocol under 'Protocols...'in the setup menu.The terminal is now ready to use and can be controlled from the connected control puter.Check the functions on the control panelCheck the interaction of the functions with the plete system or machine step by step.termex32x V116 TH for installationin another machine.It is not allowed to be started upuntil the conformity of the final product with the 94/9/ECWamingand 99/92/EC Directives has been established and thisCare-Attentionproduct inspected by an authorized expert inaccordance with EN 60079 and EN 50014 ff.Warning Zone 22After installation cable glands have to be savedwith a suitable adhesive cables2.1.1 Shielding conceptThe purpose of cable shielding is usually to improve the signal quality and reduce interference as wellas radiation from electromagic fields.The data cables (RS485,TTY,intrinsically safe circuits,digital inputs/outputs,Ether)must beshielded.The shields must be continuously connected and grounded in order to guarantee thenecessary interference suppression.One of the following three techniques should be used:1.Connect and hard ground both ends of the shield.This method achieves the greatest reduction inelectromagic interference.There is,however,a risk of current loops with high pensatingcurrents.These currents can lead to safety problems if their values are excessive.2.Connect and hard ground one end of the shield.This method achieves a reduction inelectromagic interference while simultaneously preventing the above-mentioned current loops.3.Provide a hard connection at one end of the shield (TERMEX)and capacitive grounding at the otherend in the safe area.This method achieves a relatively large reduction in electromagic interferencewhile simultaneously preventing current loops with high pensating currents.A capacitor (approx.10 nF)with a fixed dielectric(ceramic)and a test voltage 1500 V can beinstalled in the safe area for this purpose.The final decision regarding the most suitable shielding concept must be based on a detailedobservation of the equipotential bonding system.Furthermore always observe the clauses 12.2.2.3 and 12.2.2.4 of EN 60079-14.Example 1:If a low-impedance equipotential bonding system (building grounding system)is effective under alloperating conditions,both ends of the shield must be connected and grounded.Caution is necessary,however,if transients that cannot be statically measured are produced when machines are switched.Example 2:If there is no equipotential bonding system or only a poor system,or if the equipotential bondingsystem does not have a very low impedance or has a high noise voltage,variant 2 or 3 should bepreferred.Which of these three concepts is used must be determined by the user on a case-to-case basis (bestinterference suppression and safety).No liability can be accepted by the manufacturer for this decision.A non-connected shield at the VisuNet RM/PC end must always be properly insulated in order toprevent sparking!The Box-10-A(Ethemet patch panel)allows the shield to be optionally connected or not connected toground.It is connected by means of a small contact spring on the DIN rail.Each user must ascertain which form of EMC protection is necessary,and offers sufficient reliabilityfor their particular installation.In systems that are relatively insusceptible to electromagicinterference,it may be adequate to connect and ground only one
